Luis Gabriel Rey gave America the lead through the rain in the Clásico Joven

A rain delay and a waterlogged pitch provided the backdrop to the Clásico Joven between Cruz Azul and Club America and in truth probably did not help the quality of the game. Luis Gabriel Rey’s header gave America the lead just before half time but Luis Perea’s second half header gave Cruz Azul the draw and leaves them well placed for a playoff spot. Veracruz also stayed in liguilla contention with a 1-0 win over Morelia thanks to Luis Tejada’s last minute goal. The Panamanian striker took advantage of some wayward goalkeeping to lob the ball into the back of the empty net. With the sides around them winning, Tigres needed a result and they responded well, with a 3-1 win against Atlante. Alan Pulido gave Tigres the lead only for Walter Erviti to wonderfully equalise for Atlante. However, with minutes remaining goals from Pulido and Danilinho ensured the 3 points and with a game in hand means Tigres are in a good position. Finally, honours were even between Chiapas and Pumas as Lucas Viatri’s headed goal was cancelled out by Luis Garcia’s 89th minute strike. SEE ALL THE GOALS….

CRUZ AZUL  1 – 1  CLUB AMERICA
