The lineup for the Copa MX Final is complete with Atlas booking their place to face Morelia following victory over Alebrijes. Morelia will no doubt be favourites to lift the trophy but Atlas’ presence in the Final comes as a great relief to a disastrous Liga MX campaign.
Gustavo Ramirez had given second tier, Alebrijes de Oaxaca a first half lead but Flavio Santos’ scrappy effort just after the break for Atlas tied the game.
It remained that way and so the dreaded penalties were needed to separate the two sides. With both sides dispatching their spot kicks, the event needed its hero and villain. Jose Medina saw his effort saved and so the final kick fell to Lucas Ayala to award Atlas the victory.
