Chivas ended a run of 12 games without a win with a 1-0 win over fellow strugglers, Pumas in Guadalajara. Rafael Marquez Lugo’s early strike may have brought relief on the pitch but menacing banners against the current ownership served as a clear reminder that things are not well with the Rojiblancos. Earlier, Toluca booked their place in La Liguilla with a 1-1 draw against Atlas. Omar Bravo’s powerful left foot finish had given Atlas a lead but Pablo Velazquez’s second half penalty earned the home side a draw and the point was enough to guarantee a place in the playoffs. Puebla were not as fortunate as they conceded a lasts minute penalty to draw with Pachuca and end their hopes of qualifying. Once Pachuca were reduced to 10 men following Efrain Cortez’s second yellow card, and Matias Alustiza has put Puebla in front, it looked as though they would still be in the scrap. However, an unfortunate handball was punished in injury time and Abraham Carreno slotted it home to end any playoff hopes. SEE ALL THE ACTION….
