With the January window rapidly approaching the wild transfer rumours are starting and according to reports, Arsene Wenger is looking to bolster his attack with an audacious double transfer swoop for Javier Hernandez and Nani from rivals, Manchester United.
Both players have fallen down the pecking order at Old Trafford and in the case of Hernandez, he will be keen to get some more action after losing his place in the Mexican national side.
A $36 million fee has been touted but where this figure has been plucked from his anyone’s guess.
It is no secret that Arsenal are a little light in attack and if Olivier Giroud was injured, Wenger would not have a great deal of back-up. An interest in Chicharito is perhaps understandable, whether this will be followed up with an offer is a whole different matter.
For Hernandez, his next move would be an important one and he would need some guarantees that he would be getting some playing time. With Arsenal flying high, that would not be so certain and he would not want to swap one substitute bench for another.
Nani would be even less likely, as with Theo Walcott returning from injury a big-money move for a wide player is not top of Arsenal’s priorities.
