Real Madrid could move for Vela sparking another move for Arsenal

Spanish Paper, Diario Sport are reporting that Real Madrid could be eyeing a potential deal to bring Carlos Vela to the Bernabéu as the look to off-load, Asier Illarramendi. Given Arsenal’s clause to purchase Vela at a knockdown price, the move could see The Gunners sign Real striker, Álvaro Morata.

The paper states that Real Madrid, Florentino Pérez has not been impressed with Illarramendi since his arrival from Real Sociedad for a massive €32 million and is looking to sell him back to his former club as part of the deal.

Madrid are interested in both Carlos Vela and his current teammate, Antoine Griezmann, who has a €30 million buy-out clause in his contract. The Frenchman is attracting interest from Chelsea and Juventus but Sociedad are loathed to lose Griezmann unless the hefty fee is met.

However, with Madrid reportedly more keen on Vela and aware of the Mexican’s former club, Arsenal having the option to bring the player back to London for a minimal fee, they may attempt to swap Illarramendi for Vela and offer Arsenal the opportunity to sign 21-year-old striker, Álvaro Morata.

Vela has already stated that his time at Arsenal was not enjoyable so he would probably prefer a move to the Champions League Champions although the chances of him being a regular starter under Carlo Ancelotti are slim.

At present with no substantiating news from any of the clubs this can be filed under the transfer window tabloid gossip but we will wait and see.
