Real Sociedad President, Jokin Aperribay has confirmed that Arsenal will be exercising their right bring Carlos Vela back to The Emirates. Following talks in London, Aperribay confirmed, “Arsenal have informed us that Vela would be with them next season.’
After scoring 16 goals and making 12 assists last season in La Liga, Vela has become a much sought after player and so Sociedad were naturally loathed to lose such an asset for a fee which is considerably less than his market value. Arsenal will need to pay just £3.5 million to buy back Vela, in contrast to the fee in excess of £15 million that was touted to other European clubs.
Although Vela’s time at Arsenal earlier in his career was somewhat of a disappointment after arriving as a much-hyped 17-year-old, this will be a new start for the 25-year-old Vela.
At such a fee and in need of attacking reinforcements it is an easy decision for Arsenal even if Vela has some reservations. Arsene Wenger is certainly getting a very different player back to the one that left two years ago.
