Veracruz staged an unlikely late comeback to defeat previously unbeaten, Monterrey inside the Estadio Luis Pirata Fuente and give themselves a lift in the descenso. Colombian, Dorlan Pabón fired Los Rayados in front early after some ponderous defending and Veracruz, who had yet to score in this championship did not appear to have the fire-power to get back into the game. However, Edgar Andrade pulled Los Tiburones Rojos level in the 78th minute before recent Argentine signing, Daniel Villalva curled in a wonderful winner from 25 yards. Earlier, Tijuana once again failed to win on the road, this time recording a goalless draw with Morelia. Both sides were guilty of wasting chances but Los Xolos will be the more rueful after Cristian Pellerano blazed over a second half penalty.
