Atlas and América earn late wins, Pabon hat-trick downs Cruz Azul and Puebla Tigres ends in draw (VIDEO)

Atlas continued their fine start to the Apertura with a dramatic late win in the the lesser, Guadalajara clásico against Leones Negros. The newly promoted side are still looking for their first win and will be deeply disappointed to concede a penalty in the 87th minute after playing with 10 men for 20 minutes after Diego Campos was shown a second yellow card. The penalty allowed Luís Cabellero the opportunity to fire Atlas to another 3 points and remain on the heels of Club América. Las Águilas needed their own late goal to maintain their 100% start to the season. Having seen their lead pegged back twice by a determined Morelia side, Oribe Peralta popped up to volley a loose ball past Carlos Rodríguez and show signs of life after Raúl Jiménez’s departure. Later in Monterrey, Colombian striker, Dorlan Pabon hit a stunning hat-trick to pile further pressure on Cruz Azul as their poor early season form continues. In what was the poorest game of the day, Puebla drew 1-1 with Tigres in the Estadio Cuauhtemoc with both sides displaying their misfiring attacks.

Club América  3 – 2  Morelia

Puebla  1 – 1  Tigres

Monterrey  3 – 1  Cruz Azul

Atlas  1 – 0  Leones Negros
