Cruz Azul earned a much needed win on Saturday afternoon with a hard fought 2-1 win over Querétaro. It took a dubious penalty converted by Rogelio Chávez and a header by João Rojas following some dreadful defending to snatch the victory after Camilo Sanvezzo had fired Los Gallos Blancos level. Monterrey moved up to second after a 1-0 win against Puebla thanks to another goal from Colombian, Dorlan Pabón leapfrogging Atlas in the process. Atlas lost for the first time this season when they travelled to Pachuca as Matías Alustiza plundered a hat-trick for Los Tuzos making Ponchito González’s 78th goal nothing more than a consolation. Club América also dropped points for the first time this season as they were held to a goalless draw against Chiapas. Las Águilas might think this could have been a sixth consecutive win had they had a bit more luck as they struck the frame of Los Jaguares goal three times. Finally in the relegation battle between two of Liga MX’s most ineffective attacks, Veracruz and Chivas unsurprisingly played out a 0-0 draw.

Cruz Azul  2 – 1  Querétaro

Veracruz  0 – 0  Chivas

Monterrey  1 – 0  Puebla

Pachuca  3 – 1  Atlas

Chiapas  0 – 0  Club América
