The Semi Final lineup for this season’s Copa MX was finalised last night as Puebla and Tigres both celebrated victories over Primera rivals to book their places. Puebla managed to see off Atlas inside the Estadio Jalisco after a goalless draw ended in penalties. After a series of misses in the opening exchanges, both sides found some consistency from their spotkicks and it went to sudden death. Alfredo Mendoza scored for the visitors and then Sergio Ponce saw his powerfully struck penalty saved to end the contest.
Later in Nuevo León, Tigres defeated Toluca to set up a Semi Final clash with Santos. A superbly struck free kick from José Torres and a Egidio Arévalo Ríos header minutes later sent the packed Estadio Universitario into rapture. Tigres and Toluca have both been going well in Liga MX this season but the Copa MX provides Tigres with a decent shot at silverware.
Atlas 0 – 0 Puebla (Puebla won 4-3 on penalties)
Tigres 2 – 0 Toluca
