Puebla booked their place in the Copa MX Final last night after defeating lower league, city rivals, Lobos BUAP on penalties. It had looked for a good while that Los Lobos would shock their Liga MX opposition after Omar Tejeda had headed them in front after half an hour. The lead remained until the 75th minute when Luis Loroña equalised for Puebla and took the match to penalties. As all the selected players successfully tucked away their spotkicks it came down to the fifth and final penalty. For Puebla, the unmistakable Cuauhtémoc Blanco stepped up and after his trademark long run-up he sent the goalkeeper the wrong way. Lobos needed to score to take it to sudden death and unfortunately Ricardo Vázquez did not quite have the nerve as his effort was saved by Alfredo Frausto and ensured Puebla would be in the Final.
