Santos managed to overturn an early two-goal deficit to see off Tigres in their Copa MX Semi Final and book their place against Puebla. Damián Álvarez fired Tigres into the lead after only 8 minutes and when Javier Orozco inadvertantly put the ball into his net to double the lead minutes later it did not look like Santos’ day.
However, just after the half hour mark, Djaniny headed a goal back for Santos and before half time they were level when Andrés Rentería rounded Nahuel Guzmán to slot into the empty net.
With the match in the balance it took a moment of inspiration to give Santos the advantage. Oswaldo Alanís spotted Guzmán off his line and scored a sensational long range strike from his own half to put Los Guerreros in front for the first time.
It did not take long for Santos to take a two-goal lead of their own when Javier ‘Chuletita’ Orozco beat Guzmán to a ball into the box and headed the decisive goal.
