The top two met in the Estadio Nemesio Díez and it took a last gasp Oribe Peralta goal to salvage a point for league leaders Club América. Peralta gave Las Águilas an early lead against rivals, Toluca after latching on to Ruben Sambueza’s wonderfully weighted pass to delicately chip the ball over the onrushing Alfredo Talavera. However, the home side came back stronger and it came as no real surprise when they were level after Pablo Velázquez equalised from the spot midway through the first half. Velázquez added a scrappy second just after the hour mark but in the 89th minute Peralta struck again, managing to smash the ball through a crowd after a corner had failed to be cleared.
Chivas later showed off their new found resilience as they held Tigres to a goalless draw in the Estadio Omnilife. The season can’t finish soon enough for Chivas but Tigres can already look ahead to the liguilla having booked their place already.
