The Apertura 2014 Liguilla kicked off last night and there was plenty of drama as both ties now hang delicately in the balance. Tigres led in Pachuca for virtually the entire second half after Rodrigo Salinas had slid the ball into his own net as he attempted to deny Darío Burbano a simple tap-in minutes after the break. However, deep into injury time, Los Tuzos found their life line as Hugo Ayala inadvertantly diverted Salinas’ cross into the goal for the second own goal of the match.
Later in México City, Pumas scrapped to a narrow 1-0 win over rivals, Club América thanks to Eduardo Herrera’s towering second half header. Saturday’s match in the Estadio Azteca will be explosive and Antonio Mohamed will welcome back Ruben Sambueza as they do what they were unable to do last night and find a way past an incredibly resolute Pumas defence.
Pachuca 1 – 1 Tigres
