Marco Fabián came back to Chivas for exactly this reason, as his wonderful early strike helped Los Rojiblancos to a crucial victory over Pumas and saw them lift off the bottom of the table. Fabián is capable of moments like this which is why he is such a frustrating player but if he can produce this more often then any fears of relegation will surely be forgotten. Before half time, Ángel Reyna thumped in his first for the club with a spectacular volley and finally there was reason to cheer in the Estadio Omnilife. Pumas did manage to reply with a late penalty, scored by Eduardo Herrera but Chivas held on for a invaluable victory.
Earrlier, Toluca had no problems in defeating Chiapas. Goals from Carlos Ezquivel and a late brace by Richard Ortiz gave Los Diablos Rojos their first win of the season.
